The Dolphins could be playing for a place in the top eight when they host the Raiders on Sunday afternoon.

Kristian Woolf's men enter Round 27 two points behind the eighth-placed Roosters and need the Sydney club to fall to bitter rivals South Sydney on Friday night.

Should that occur, the Dolphins will need to win and reverse a 15-point for and against difference to book their maiden finals berth.

The Raiders are set to rest a number of players after securing the minor premiership with a commanding win over the Wests Tigers last week.

Coach Ricky Stuart has turned his focus to a drought-breaking title, with Canberra determined to set the platform for a finals tilt.

Team News

Dolphins: Star centre Herbie Farnworth is closing in on a return from the hamstring injury he suffered in Round 22. The Englishman has been named in the extended squad and could be called up later in the week. Back-rower Kulikefu Finefuiaki (ankle) returns to fill the void left by Connelly Lemuelu (knee).

Raiders: With the minor premiership sewn up Ricky Stuart is taking the opportunity to rest frontliners Kaeo Weekes, Jed Stuart, Ethan Strange, Jamal Fogarty, Joe Tapine, Tom Starling, Simi Sasagi, Josh Papalii, Zac Hosking and Hudson Young. The new-look Green Machine features Chevy Stewart at fullback, Adam Cook and Ethan Sanders in the halves and Matty Nicholson in the back row. Winger Michael Asomua and bench players Manaia Waitere and Joe Roddy will make their NRL debuts in a side captained by Corey Horsburgh.
