NRL Late Mail: Round 26 - Setback for Reynolds; Vailea hamstrung

Brisbane veteran Adam Reynolds has suffered an injury setback and will not travel with the team to North Queensland this week.

The halfback was pushing to make an early return from a hamstring injury as the Broncos chase a top-four spot and was named in the extended squad to face the Cowboys.

"All the information was showing that he was doing well but we've got the boys rolling in those positions and he'll keep working hard in the background. He's all about the team and he'll double down and work hard," coach Michael Maguire said on Friday.

This week's team lists have seen multiple changes across the board, with some players back on deck while others are taking a chance to freshen up before the finals.

Raiders: Savelio Tamale is set to return from a dislocated kneecap and will replace Xavier Savage on the wing. Savage's season is over after he fractured his shoulder in last week's dramatic win over Penrith. Matty Nicholson will have to wait another week for his NRL return after coming back from injury in NSW Cup last week. Noah Martin and Danny Levi remained in the squad when it was trimmed to 19 on Friday.

Wests Tigers: Starford To'a is set to return to the field after he was a late withdrawal last week with a shoulder injury. Adam Doueihi has been ruled out with a facial fracture, which will see Latu Fainu start at halfback and Heath Mason join the bench. The Tigers remain a mathematical chance of playing finals football and need a big win over the competition leaders to keep the dream alive. No changes in Friday's 24-hour update with Tristan Hope the 18th man.

Sea Eagles: Young gun Joey Walsh has been named 18th man for the second-straight week with coach Anthony Seibold suggesting he is unlikely to get a crack this season. Emerging forward Jesse Colquhoun will start at lock as the Sharks navigate the loss of Cam McInnes to an ACL injury. Knights: Greg Marzhew has been named 18th man as he looks to return from a back injury that saw him withdrawn from the squad last weekend. No other changes for Newcastle as they look to finish a tough season on a high.

Dolphins: Kodi Nikorima is set to return from illness for a Dolphins side desperate to keep their finals hopes alive. Kristian Woolf's men have lost three in a row to fall out of the eight and need a win to stay in touch with the Roosters. Kulikefu Finefeuiaki has been ruled out with an ankle injury, with Connelly Lemuelu to start in the back-row. Nikorima's return will see Jake Averillo move back to the centres.

Titans: Former Wallaby Carter Gordon is pushing to make his NRL debut and has been named in the extended squad after overcoming a serious back injury. The league convert made a successful return from the injury in Queensland Cup and outgoing coach Des Hasler could opt to blood the exciting attacking talent before the end of the season.
