Newcastle were made to fight hard against Wests Tigers, especially in the first half where they were only 10-6 ahead at the break thanks to a Sheridan Gallagher double, before charging to their 30-6 win thanks to a powerful second half. Samoa and Indigenous All Stars second rower Evah McEwan proved key, scoring a late double to seal the deal.
